Tank And The Bangas

Tank And The Bangas | Contagious happiness meets hip hop poetry

Tank And The Bangas, a New Orleans band that is so diverse and spectacular that there are hardly enough words to describe their magic. Clever storytelling, contagious happiness, refreshingly surprising, highly creative, and addictively captivating are only a few keywords that describe their NPR Tiny Desk concert. One that is a rollercoaster of rhythms, musical styles, and emotions. One that I’ve watched daily ever since it was released on March 20th.

The unanimous winner of the 2017 Tiny Desk Contest is truly something special. Singer Tarriona “Tank” Ball is humble, authentic and radiates nothing but good energy in her pastel-colored ensemble. Partner in crime Anjelika “Jelly” Joseph seamlessly fills in the gaps with her warm vocals and quirky lines. Their dynamic is perfection. Add keys, drums, bass and saxophone and you have a soul, funk, jazz, R&B and folk mixed band like one has never heard before.
